Campervan, or traver trailer (also camper, motorhome, caravan, travel trailer) is a recreational vehicle with a living room in a van.
Most often, manufacturers adopt the chassis of light trucks and install a residential module on it. In such a case. vehicle’s cabin is connected with a living room by means of narrow passage. At the present stage of the motorhome manufacturing, there are technologies enabling to create a fully integrated campervan. From the outside it does not look like a car with a camper van, but more as a bus does. There are seating places in the caravan, which are transformed into berths in parking lots. Other than that, there is a toilet, shower, gas stove, refrigerator, gas heating, air conditioning, wardrobes for objects, lighting to ensure perfect comfort.
First you need to make a decision on manufacturer. The thing is that Italian manufacturers make "cold" houses, as there is no cold weather in Southern Europe, sometimes even stoves are not needed in the cabin. But cheap and cheerful, if you do not need to use it in the winter.
The Germans can do both lightweight and winter versions of motorhomes and caravans, with double floor, heating the drain tank and gas cylinders, thicker walls, a powerful stove available. But you have to pay for all this. And yet, that's where the build quality and assembly technology have an impact too. The better the build quality, the longer your campervan operates without seams, furniture falling off, walls going away and things like these. Therefore, if you choose a campervan or caravan for many years, then you should not cheap out because buying poor-quality campers might lead to since repair and screeding of walls, floors, furniture that will cost you much more in the future.
When you come to inspect a campervan or caravan, take a look at its condition. The main thing is that there mustn’t through holes in the outer walls. Also look outside all the joints of walls and ceilings so that they do not come out of the grooves and are not badly jammed and straightened aluminum profiles that fasten the panels. Be sure to look under the bottom, explore its condition, paying special attention to the corners, because there very often the floor rots, and at the joints with the walls where dirt accumulates, there may also be a hole.
Carefully inspect all windows to check for cracks, as windshields are very expensive. Check the way they open, if all the locks are in place, if the frame is free of rust, etc
Once inside the caravan or caravan, pay attention to how the flooring behaves beneath your feet - whether it “walks” too much. If that’s the case it may be rotten and you have to remove the body from the frame and make a new flooring that might require investments comparable to the price of motorhome itself.
Just don’t jump too much because the flooring is made of special lightweight plywood and layers of polystyrene foam and insulation, and this is not an inch floorboard and you can simply break the flooring and find yourself on the ground.
Inspect the interior from the inside, especially when in comes to the joints of the ceilings and walls to make sure that everything is fine. There must in no way be leaks in the ceiling. Also see how the furniture hangs, evenly or not, is it moving away from the walls? Check furniture locks as it is vital when traveling, otherwise things will fall out of you on the go.
Not that various scratches and chips, as well as holes in the furniture have any impact on how vehicle operates, but it definetely influences your aesthetic perceptions. So in case they annoy you, get rid of them.
If all your aesthetic and visual senses are satisfied, then proceed to check life support systems. Check how the water taps and the toilet work, turn on the water heater and check if the hot water is coming. Even if it’s hot outside, turn on the stove. Check the water heater. Turn on all the backlight bulbs. Check the gas stove, how the burners and gas control work.
What’s important, be sure to check the operation of the refrigerator.
So if what you a looking for a motorhome in perfect condition, then a new campervan or travel trailer is your option.
